Provectus Algae Pty Ltd (ABN 82 625 465 572) (Provectus Algae, we, us, our) is committed to protecting the privacy of the people we deal with. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) contained in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This policy sets out how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information, and how you can contact us about it. 2. Definitions
Personal information means information or an opinion about an identified individual, or an individual who is reasonably identifiable, whether or not the information is true and whether or not it is recorded in a material form.
Sensitive information is a subset of personal information and includes information about a person's racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, trade union membership, sexual orientation, criminal record and health, as defined in the Privacy Act.
3. What personal information we collect
The kinds of personal information we collect depend on how you deal with us. It may include your name, organisation and position, postal and email address, telephone number, and the content of your communications with us. Where we deal with you as a partner, customer, supplier, contractor or investor we may also hold business, banking and transaction details needed to manage that relationship.
If you apply to work with us we may collect employment history, qualifications, references and, where relevant, information required by law such as your right to work in Australia. It may also be necessary to collect limited sensitive information from employees and candidates, such as emergency contact details or information about a medical condition that affects your work. We only collect sensitive information with your consent or where the law requires or permits it.
When you visit this website we collect limited technical information such as pages viewed, referring site, approximate location (country), browser and device type. This information is aggregated and does not identify you personally, and our website does not use tracking cookies.
4. How we collect personal information
We generally collect personal information directly from you: when you submit an enquiry through this website, email or call us, meet us at an event, apply for a role, or enter into a commercial relationship with us. Some collection takes place through third-party platforms that we use to run our business, such as our website hosting, online form, recruitment and cloud email and productivity providers. We may also receive personal information from publicly available sources or from third parties such as referrers, recruiters or your employer, where it is reasonable to do so.
5. How we use and disclose personal information
We use personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, and for related purposes you would reasonably expect, including to:
- respond to your enquiry and follow up on a potential partnership, licence, investment, supply or purchase;
- manage our relationships with partners, customers, suppliers, contractors and investors;

6. Security and data storage
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Information is stored in access-controlled systems provided by reputable cloud providers, and is transmitted using encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Records of contact enquiries and commercial dealings are retained for seven years from our last contact with you, after which they are destroyed or de-identified unless we are required to keep them longer. Unsuccessful job applications are retained for a shorter period unless you ask us to keep your details on file.
7. Direct marketing
We may occasionally send news about Provectus Algae to people who have dealt with us or asked to hear from us. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any such message or by contacting us using the details below, and we will action your request promptly.
8. Access, correction and complaints
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting our Privacy Officer. We will respond within a reasonable period, normally 30 days, and will not charge for making a request. If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with the APPs, please contact the Privacy Officer first so we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
